Lutheran Worship
Participants will study the basic elements of Lutheran worship. Some of the segments are: Word, Sacraments, Confession and Absolution, and prayer. Because of the need/concern, participants will investigate traditional Lutheran worship, contemporary worship, and Special Orders of the Day.
Description: Participants will study the basic elements of Lutheran worship. Some of the segments are: Word, Sacraments, Confession and Absolution, and prayer. Because of the need/concern, participants will investigate traditional Lutheran worship, contemporary worship, and Special Orders of the Day.II. Objectives:
- For worship to be Lutheran, it should have a number of components.
- There is a difference between substance and style.
- Worship is God’s service among us and our response to God’s invitation.
- Different church bodies have different objectives.
- A deacon/SMP student needs to learn the impact of leading worship well.
Participants will, in the course of this seminar:· Recognize the difference between other worship forms and Lutheran worship;
- Understand the individual components of Lutheran worship and how to do them;
- Learn the various historical traditional forms of worship;
- Understand and appreciate the sacramental and sacrificial elements of worship
- Learn how to draft contemporary worship that is distinctly Lutheran.
