Witness 101
In the not-too-distant past, evangelism meant inviting someone to church. Witnessing was sharing an informational flyer about an upcoming event or new program your congregation was launching. Our society expected people to go to church regularly. That has changed, and with the change has come new expectations for evangelism and outreach. Once, the church was the means to a faith conversation. Now, the church becomes part of the conversation after a conversion experience. Today’s outreach focuses on connecting people to Jesus and His amazing gift of salvation. In this course the participants will explore three aspects to Christian Outreach.
Unit 1 Equips the participants to talk about the gospel message. The Unit integrates a Lutheran Hour (LHM) learning module that helps participants engage non-believers in faith conversations. The course is rooted in modern research by the Barna Institute. The image of the spiritual conversation curve will help participants be more purposeful in their faith-sharing opportunities.
Unit 2 Transitions from the individual sharing faith to involving members of the congregation in building relationship bridges to the community. In this unit a Lutheran Hour Ministry course will demonstrate several strategies for opening the doors to faith conversations through engaging community connections. This course is best experienced in a Bible Study or Small Group setting. Community connections are more than service projects helping those in need; they are more than attractional events that promote the church through false promises.
Unit 3 Addresses basic obstacles that may prevent guests from connecting with the participant’s congregation. If you are sharing your faith and building connections to the community, your congregation will begin to have first-time guests. This unit provides a framework to recognize and address obstacles that may hinder people from becoming regular attenders and members.
The partcipants of Outreach 101 should have a mentor, a pastor or someone that loves to share their faith. The mentor provides feedback and coaching to that the participants get the maximum benefit from the course. Start your course today.

4Introduction to Your Story
A personal testimony, one in which one shares one's personal experiences with Jesus Christ, can be very powerful in the witnessing process. However, personal testimonies tend to point the spotlight on ourselves or at least lessen the light we shine on Jesus. Rather than creating a biographic narrative around your conversion experience, in this lesson, you will learn to tell Jesus' story from within your experiences and context.
